How it began...
John started painting at the age of thirteen, but it wasn't until he met his soulmate in his late forties that his talent flourished. John's wife, Patti, saw potential and convinced him to take a few classes. From a Christmas gift of an art workshop to an Anniversary present of new brushes, each new celebration brought gentle encouragement.
In 2017, John met Jane Bell, the owner of Illume gallery in St. George, Utah. She referred him to a workshop taught by Katheryn Stats, and Later with Linda Glover Gooch They ignited his drive to create. John continues to study under Susan Jarvis and Bonnie Posselli. And at last, he is ready to share his talent with others.
Artist Statement
“An artist is a master story teller. One who has honed his craft to include enough details to convey the story line short of being redundant, making it enticing, interesting and colorful without overwhelming the listener. Allowing enough open space in the story that the listener can fill in the blanks with his personal details and emotions to make the story his own. Only when this happens can a painting have life.
